Cambodia religion
In Cambodia, 95 percent of the population is Buddhist. Buddhism is said to be as much a practical way of life as a religion. Traditionally, Buddhist meditation is seen as a way to gain insight and, in turn, freedom. Among the most important foundations of the doctrine are love and wisdom. According to this belief, combining these two things with a good life will lead to reoccurring good karma.
Buddhism believes in reincarnation, which means that you hold in high regard all living beings. In the home as well as in shops and temples one will often find statues of Buddha. You can also see monks dressed in orange walking around and collecting alms. Buddhism became the official religion of the state in 1989.
